Organization Profile
The Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) traces its origin to the Indian Cancer Research Centre (ICRC) which was established in 1952 in Parel, Mumbai under the Ministry of Health, Government of India.
In 1966, the ICRC was renamed the Cancer Research Institute (CRI) and later merged with Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH), forming the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) – India’s first comprehensive cancer research and treatment centre.
Today, TMC operates as an autonomous institution under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India, and is recognized as one of the leading cancer research institutions in the country.
