About the Team / Role

You will join Wayfair’s Advertising team, focusing on building highly scalable backend services, APIs, and front-end features that support our ad platform. You’ll work on large-scale systems that reach millions of users, and partner with cross-functional teams to design, build, and maintain robust, high-performance solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs in Java.

• Develop and optimize database schema and queries.

• Write clean, tested frontend code (React / Next.js, CSS, HTML).

• Work with product managers, UX designers, and other stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.

• Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and drive best practices.

• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex technical issues.

• Promote continuous improvement: CI/CD, automated testing, architecture enhancements.

What You Bring

• 7–9 years of software engineering experience, especially in backend-heavy full-stack development.

• Leadership experience: mentoring, code reviews, cross-functional collaboration.

• Proficiency in Java (and/or Python).

• Strong frontend experience: JavaScript, React or Next.js, HTML, CSS, Styled Components/SASS.

• Experience in e-commerce advertising, including campaign management and ad targeting.

• Cloud platform experience: AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Skilled in debugging, testing, and building reliable, resilient systems.

• Excellent communication skills; ability to work with product and design teams.

• A collaborative mindset, and the ability to influence technical decisions.
