Profile of the University

The University of Kerala, founded in 1937, is one of the first 16 universities established in India. The university was earlier known as the University of Travancore in the princely state of Travancore.

The university was established by Maharajah Sri Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma, who also served as its first Chancellor. Sir C. P. Ramaswamy Ayyar, the then Diwan (Prime Minister) of the state, became the first Vice-Chancellor.

The institution was modeled on the best universities of the United Kingdom and continues to maintain high academic standards in teaching and research.

• Master’s Degree in

  • West Asian Studies

  • Islamic History

  • Sociology

  • Political Science and International Relations

with specialization in West Asian Studies.

Preference

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• Expertise in trade and economy, particularly energy sources in the Gulf region

• Expertise in International Politics / International Relations theory with focus on West Asian Studies

• Good proficiency in English language
