Punjab Engineering College was originally established in 1921 as Mugalpura Engineering College in Lahore. In 1953, it moved to its present campus in Chandigarh and became affiliated with Panjab University.

The institute became a Deemed University in 2003 through a notification from the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). The institution has a 146-acre campus and functions as a Grant-in-Aid institution under the Union Territory Administration of Chandigarh, Government of India.

The academic and administrative processes of the institute are similar to those followed by IITs in India.

Essential Qualification

• Master’s Degree in Sciences
  OR

• Master’s Degree in Engineering

---

Fellowship

• ₹31,000 + HRA per month
  (For candidates selected through CSIR-UGC NET / GATE / other national level examinations conducted by central government departments or agencies)

• ₹25,000 + HRA per month
  (For other eligible candidates)

Age Limit

• Maximum 35 years on the last date of application

• Age relaxation applicable for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates as per Government of India norms.
