Qualifications

Candidates must have any one of the following qualifications:

• Graduate with B.Ed. in Special Education
  OR

• B.Ed. (General) with a recognized 1-year / 2-year Diploma in Special Education
  OR

• Any RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India) approved qualification for Special Educator at Secondary / Senior Secondary level

Mandatory Requirement

• Must be registered with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) and possess a valid CRR number.

Desirable

• Experience working as a Special Educator in CBSE or recognized schools

• Knowledge of inclusive education practices and CWSN provisions

Role Purpose

The Special Educator will ensure effective inclusion of Children With Special Needs (CWSN) in the school by providing:

• Specialized educational support

• Classroom accommodations

• Remedial interventions

• Guidance to teachers and parents

This role aligns with CBSE inclusive education guidelines and disability legislation.

Key Responsibilities

Identification and Assessment

• Assist in early identification of students with learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and other developmental needs.

• Conduct screening, observation, and basic functional assessments.

• Maintain individual profiles for CWSN students.

Individualized Education Planning (IEP)

• Prepare and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).

• Set academic, behavioural, and functional goals for students.

• Collaborate with teachers, counsellors, and parents.

Classroom Support and Remediation

• Provide in-class support and remedial sessions.

• Help students with reading, writing, numeracy, and attention difficulties.

• Suggest curriculum adaptations and differentiated instruction strategies.

Coordination for CWSN Provisions (CBSE)

• Guide the school and parents regarding CBSE concessions and accommodations for CWSN students such as:

  • Extra time

  • Scribe rules

  • Exam concessions

• Assist with documentation and coordination for board examinations.

Teacher and Parent Support

• Conduct training sessions for teachers on inclusive education practices.

• Provide guidance to parents regarding home support and therapy referrals.

• Maintain sensitivity and confidentiality in all communications.

Collaboration and Reporting

• Work with School Counsellor, Class Teachers, Exam Coordinator, and Management.

• Maintain records of:

  • Interventions

  • IEP plans

  • Student progress

• Submit periodic reports to the Principal.

• Patience and empathy when working with diverse learners

• Strong communication skills with students, parents, and teachers

• Ability to design specialized teaching-learning materials

Work Schedule

• Full-time during school working hours
